The Elephant Vanishes (1980~) : “Reality is not what you convey to people but something you make. It is this that gives birth to meaning.” (The Window, Murakami 191), making reading a habit and forgetting the influence of literature, how much you pick up when you read things more than once (Sleep, Murakami 7?) on procrastination the elephant factory workers- the narrator chooses to work efficiently in the morning with his co-worker so he can take the afternoon off, the bakery attack woman who works with efficiency when robbing the McDonalds, insomniac woman who realizes that her daily routine is like a machine and she just has to do things efficiently and she’ll have time to read and do things she enjoys , the idea of the slippery slope– narrator falls to his demise after initially allowing the dwarf to enter his body because the narrator wanted a girl (hmm…i think evil poisons start this way, an innocuous breach of your morals…) (The Dancing Dwarf, Murakami 26?)
