It is possible to be well-spoken, logical, articulate, and kind. It’s funny only a year ago I was surrounded by N* undergrads/recent N* undergrads and was dismayed by the marked secrecy and competitiveness, and tool-users/manipulators (?). Only a couple miles away, other articulate, funny, and intelligent people existed without the pretension and furtiveness. I think I’ve come to the conclusion that some schools aren’t necessarily full of smarter people. They’re just filled with more pretentious, money-vested, entitled, individuals with greater opportunities.
I hope that this realization about others also makes me less pretentious, more humble, and a kinder (yet sociable) human being. Buddha is known for saying that the way you look at others is the way you view yourself.
