I have a good friend who is incredibly bright, but refuses to give in to certain stereotypes, is not pretentious, and is acutely aware of a lot.
The past couple of years has reminded that a) people are constantly changing and that b) prestige is only so far as a sheet of paper and some other notes and c) i have so much to learn from other people and that d) I cannot rely on my own abilities, knowledge, habits, or diplomas to establish who I am. and thus e) who i am is inextricably tied to who I am at the current moment and who i am becoming. (thereby the current actions are a better prediction than other things and that only my current work should be a testament to who i becme. Thus, the past should not be in my constant working memory if it hinders who i am becoming.
